Spanish hotel chains want to create a platform for energy efficiency
17 May, 2023In the hotel sector, energy costs represent a significant percentage of the total operating costs, ranging between 14% and 15%, although these can reach up to 25%. According to data from the World Tourism Organization (WTO), hotel establishments emit between 2% and 5% of the total CO2 in the tourism sector.
In this sense, the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH) has carried out a study aimed at evaluating the feasibility of creating a collaborative Business Intelligence platform for the comprehensive management of hotels in the accommodation sector, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The main objective of this study is to identify the needs of the sector in terms of consumption and energy efficiency and develop a scorecard which allows establishments to carry out benchmark studies within the sector through data analysis.
