17 May, 2023

The main agents of the business, academic and NGO sectors have created the Alliance for the Sustainability of Air Transport in Spain (AST) to face the greatest present and future challenge of aviation: decarbonisation. It was created to promote the development of sustainable aviation in its three aspects (environmental, economic and social) and includes over 900 companies and entities.

The Alliance started in April with a Governing Council made up of various air transport companies and associations: the Airline Association (ALA), Airbus, Aena, the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), Air Europa, Air Nostrum, AOP , Binter, Boeing, CEOE, ECODES Ecology and Development, Enaire, Exolum, IATA, Iberia, SENASA, TEDAE, Transport & Environment, the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and Vueling.

The group mainly aims to promote the route for the decarbonisation of air transport, favouring the identification and implementation of new technologies and innovative processes in a rational and orderly manner to guarantee the sustainability of the air sector in the long term.
