Spanish airports already record more flights than in 2019
7 June, 2023Aena network airports closed the first four months of the year with 77,466,138 passengers, 32.7% more than in the same period last year and 1.9% more than in the first four months of 2019. Between January and April, 695,549 aircraft movements were recorded (1.5% more than in 2019). In April, there were 23,820,269 passengers, so 2.6% more than in the same month of 2019.
Last month, 204,205 there were aircraft movements which means exceeding 2019 data by 5% and 2022 data by 8.2%. Of the total number of passengers registered in April, 23,756,597 were commercial passengers. Of these, 15,996,343 travelled on international flights, 0.1% less than in April 2019 and 16.9% more than in 2022.
Madrid-Barajas Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in April with 4,871,415, +3.6% over the same month in 2019. Barcelona-El Prat follows with 4,202,059 (-7.1%); Palma de Mallorca with 2,731,124 (+8.6%); Málaga-Costa del Sol with 2,020,881 (+10.6%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández with 1,435,274 (+7%); Gran Canaria with 1,166,198 (+5.6%) and Tenerife South with 1,023,097 passengers (+8.5%).
