Luxury cruise ship Explora I arrives in the port of Barcelona
16 August, 2023At the end of July, the Port of Barcelona welcomed Explora I, the first of four luxury ships in the MSC Group brand's fleet of leisure vessels. After being delivered on 20 July from the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, the vessel set sail in Barcelona to make its maiden voyage, departing on 1 August for Copenhagen, Denmark.
On board Explora I, Captain Serena Melani and Lluis Salvado, President of the Barcelona Port Authority, exchanged metopes in honour of the ship's first visit to its destination. Explora Journeys CEO Michael Ungerer and representatives of the local port authorities were also present.
This call confirms the commitment of the MSC Group's cruise division to both the port of Barcelona and the city itself, one of the group's key destinations, where a new cruise terminal is under construction that, when completed in 2024, will be dedicated to both Explora Journeys and its subsidiary MSC Cruises.
