Barajas, in the club of the busiest airports in the world

The Airports Council International (ACI) has published the ranking of the world's largest airports, confirming Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas in 15th place with the highest passenger traffic in 2022. With this result, Madrid-Barajas moves up 27 places in the world ranking of airports and moves into the Top 20, from 42nd to fifteenth position.

According to the council, AS Madrid-Barajas, with 50.6 million passengers last year, is also ranked 5th in Europe and 3rd in the European Union behind Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam. What’s more, the Madrid facility is the fourth airport in the Top 20 with the best recovery compared to 2021, with an increase of 109%.

It should be noted that ACI compiles this list of the world's busiest airports from over 2,600 airports in more than 180 countries and territories around the world, according to sources at Aena, which is the managing body of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas.
