The MICE range in Malaga and Palma is surging in popularity

13 September, 2023

In the first half of the year, the positive momentum experienced by the MICE sector in Spain has been confirmed, as well as in holiday destinations such as Malaga and Palma, further corroborated by the results of the Trade Fair and Congress Centre of Malaga (FYCMA) and the Convention Centre of Palma. Murcia has estimated the impact of this tourism segment on the city at almost 40 million euros in 2022.

FYCMA confirms with its results for the first semester the positioning of Malaga as a reference fair and congress capital in southern Europe, according to its directors. From January to July the venue has hosted 106 events - 70% of which were of a professional nature - bringing together more than 201,000 participants. The economic impact has exceeded 114 million euros, more than in 2022.

By type of event, 12 fairs have been held – five organised by FYCMA – and nine congress exhibitions, in addition to 14 major national and international congress events, mostly associated with the medical-health field. Some of them have hosted more than 2,500 attendees.
