Competitive prices make Spanish campsites attractive

13 September, 2023

Campsites have established themselves as the second most popular accommodation choice nationwide, a position that continues to grow “year after year thanks to the moderation of prices in this activity, despite inflation and lower profitability,” as highlighted by the Federación Española de Campings [Spanish campsite federation] (FEEC).

The Federation has ensured that prices can continue to be maintained, "trying to keep the pace of moderation" to preserve value for money. Establishments in the Valencian Community, Andalusia, Murcia and Catalonia are expected to register an average occupancy of over 90%, levels that will also be reached in the north of the country, in Galicia, Cantabria, Asturias and the Basque Country, if the weather is good.

Another of the sectors that have benefited from the change in habits imposed by the pandemic has been that of motorhomes and campsites, due to their contact with nature and social distance. The rise of the sector began in 2018 with an increase of 260% until 2020.
