Underwater photography event in Las Palmas
13 September, 2023The Gran Canaria Las Palmas Fotosub, the classic underwater photography event organised by the Ciudad de Mar del Ayuntamiento on Las Canteras beach, has announced its next event, which will be held from September 28 to October 1. Categories include professional, open, night and 'cazafotosub' [freediving photography].
The event returns with the aim of promoting knowledge about this extraordinary natural aquarium that houses the main sandy area of the capital, and reinforcing among citizens a message of maximum respect for the health of the sea and underwater life. Las Palmas is an ideal destination for practicing this activity, not only for experienced photographers, but also to enjoy as a family”
The good health of the sea in this area of the coast of Gran Canaria has allowed the beach to have a catalogue of more than 150 species, “an incredible heritage that few urban destinations in the world have,” the City Council has highlighted. Turismo de Gran Canaria and the University of Las Palmas are once again collaborating in this event that’s both competitive and promotional, but above all about environmental awareness.
