The Alhambra beats its record of visitors this summer

20 September, 2023

The Alhambra, the most visited monumental complex in Spain, received 721,972 visitors in the months of June, July and August, exceeding the figures for summer 2022 by 6.3%. In total, from January to 31 August this year, 1.6 million tickets were sold to visit the iconic site, with a significant number of international tourists.

The Trust of la Alhambra has stated that this summer they received 43,000 more visitors than in 2022, since last year they received 678,633 people in the three months analysed. In cumulative terms, there were 1.6 million visitors, i.e. 195,000 more tourists who were captivated by the beauty of this monument.

Note that, for conservation reasons, the Palaces are limited to a capacity of 300 people per 30 minutes, a flow of visitors aided by a pioneering access system that reads ID cards or passports, with a capacity of 25 scans per second, to certify the identity of each person and speed up access to the monument.
