Madrid: a cultural attraction in full growth
4 October, 2023Cultural tourism has become very important in the Community of Madrid and there has been a large growth in the number of travellers attracted for this reason. According to data published by the official EGATUR survey, this tourist segment attracted 63.8% of international visitors to Madrid last year, compared to the Spanish average of 17.2%.
In addition, Madrid has an international tourist profile with an average daily expenditure of 281 euros in 2022, compared to the national average of 162 euros. These figures demonstrate the importance of urban and cultural tourism in Madrid and, therefore, the commitment that Turespaña has made to this event.
With the celebration of Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend, the galleries of Arte Madrid are joining forces to offer a tour of exhibitions that take place throughout the city, are free of charge and will have special opening hours. In addition, a private programme is organised to promote the contemporary art sector and encourage collaboration between cultural agents and professionals.
