Spain is the world’s second most popular tourism destination
11 October, 2023The most recent data from the tourism information consultancy ForwardKeys show that Spain is the second most popular destination in the world with the highest volume of international passenger bookings on scheduled flights during the months of July and August, behind only the United States.
So bookings of international flights to the different tourist areas of Spain in July and August increased by 18% compared to the same period last year, although they are still 14% below the pre-pandemic figures for the summer of 2019.
Forwardkeys’ results show that the impact of the heatwave on tourist flows this summer has been rather limited and there has not been a large transfer of travellers who have decided to replace the sun and beach destinations in the south with other countries in the north with cooler temperatures.
