20% more tourists arrived in Spain between January and August
11 October, 2023Last August, a total of 10.1 million international passengers arrived in airports in Spain, 12.3% more than the same month in 2022 according to data published by Turespaña. Between January and August, the country received 63.6 million international passengers, an increase of 20% compared to the same period in 2022.
In August, passengers to Spain from all major outbound countries increased. The United Kingdom with 2.4 million international passengers generated 23.9% of the total flow of arrivals to Spain in August, registering a year-on-year increase of +7.7%.
By destinations, the Balearics and Canary Islands were the ones that received the highest flow of arrivals, 28.6% and 20.4% respectively. In turn, Catalonia, Galicia, the Basque country, Cantabria and the principality of Asturias recorded the greatest growth with rates over 10%.
