Gran Canaria promotes its north coast as a sustainable tourism alternative

18 October, 2023

Gran Canaria is promoting tourism to the northern municipalities which are not the most visited and which have more accommodation on offer but where there are large tourist establishments linked to the rural environment, which is a very important element for the island’s activity.

A total of 11 municipalities are currently promoting their local products and the experiences they can offer to international tourists. The proposal of the Town Councils of the North is based on the fundamental principles of Sustainable Tourism and aims to promote the development of sustainable investments from the public and private sectors.

“From the outset, the Chamber of Commerce has been keen to develop and support initiatives such as this one. Tourists are interested in getting to know the whole island and for this, the town councils are essential for the tourist mobility on the island, which is fundamental for our economy,” said Santiago de Armas, president of the Tourism Commission of the Chamber of Commerce.
