Gran Canaria has received 15% more tourists so far this year
22 November, 2023The tourist destination of Gran Canaria recorded 243,324 foreign passengers in September, 9.63% more than in the same month of 2022, according to advance data from AENA, and presents an annual accumulated figure, between January and September, of 2,580,848 tourists, i.e. an increase of 15.67% over the same period last year.
The vast majority of indicators increased their values in September, apart from the volume of passengers (to which cruise passengers have yet to be added), confirming the sector's good momentum. The average stay increased to 7.14 days, 1.42% more than in the previous year, with foreign customers on an average of 8.48 days.
“We are satisfied with the development of the summer, which has been considerably better than the previous one and has allowed a turnover volume for the island that is historic, pending official data. This puts us in a favourable scenario for the start of the high season,” explained the councillor for Tourism of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo.
