British travel agents choose Gran Canaria as best LGBTQ+ destination
29 November, 2023The island of Gran Canaria has been chosen by British travel agents as the best LGBTQ+ destination of the year, winning the Star LGBTQ+ Destination award at the Travel Bulletin Star Awards. This is such a recognised award by the UK travel industry that it was presented at a ceremony organised by Travel Bulletin.
This event recognises the best tourism products and services voted by the travel agencies themselves, and in this new edition was attended by more than 500 representatives of the sector. Gran Canaria’s LGBTQ+ segment is very well positioned in the British market, with the highest rate of repeat visits to the island, with visits of more than 3-4 times a year.
LGBTQ+ tourism comes to Gran Canaria for Carnival, Pride and Winter Pride. This is a group with a high percentage of spending and an interest in high-level tourism products and services. As well as enjoying the night and daytime leisure offer, these visitors are particularly interested in activities such as hiking, excursions, gastronomy and culture.
