Oviedo: the 2024 Spanish Capital of Gastronomy
6 December, 2023The capital of Asturias, Oviedo, will be the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy in 2024. This was the decision of the jury in charge of awarding this prestigious prize, placing the Asturian city ahead of the other three aspiring candidates: Alicante, Antequera and Castellón.
Oviedo will thus take over from Cuenca in winning this award, granted by the Spanish Federation of Tourism Journalists and Writers (FEPET), in collaboration with Hostelería de España. The capital of the Principality of Asturias has achieved it for the third time having previously winning it in 2012 and 2022.
Now Oviedo has a whole year ahead of it full of activities in which gastronomy and tourism will be the true protagonists. Dishes such as fabada, cachopo or its incomparable cheeses and excellent seafood are bound to win over visitors’ palates.
