Spanish tourism entrepreneur responsible for sustainability at WTTC
6 December, 2023The Spanish tourism entrepreneur Gloria Fluxà, Vice President and CSO of the Iberostar Group, has taken over as Vice President of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) from Intrepid Group co-founder and Chairman Darrell Wade, who took up the position in 2020, as well as chair of the WTTC’s Sustainability Committee.
Passionate about transforming the tourism industry towards a responsible tourism model, Fluxà drives Iberostar’s sustainability strategy, which includes its Wave of Change movement in support of coastal health, a decarbonisation strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 and the evolution of its operations towards circularity.
Based on her extensive industry knowledge and passion for sustainability, she was recognised as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum (WEF). As a fourth-generation member of the family business, Gloria continues Iberostar’s legacy as a purpose-driven organisation that integrates its values and commitments to customers, the environment and its communities.
