The 25 main cruise ship companies meet in Madrid

20 December, 2023

The most important international professionals in the cruise industry met in Madrid in November for the 13th edition of the International Cruise Summit, the renowned congress that brings together the sector every year at the Hotel Meliá Castilla.

For 2 days, several round tables and presentations debated different issues of the cruise industry and tourist destinations, analysed the cruise industry from the outside after a year of recovery, and also debated the main leaders of the sector on the opportunities and challenges for the coming years.

Cruise companies continue to invest in the most advanced technologies to achieve zero net emissions by 2050. Several experiments with sustainable fuels have been carried out and research is being invested in methanol and hydrogen engines. Half of the 50 ships to be built in the next five years will use Liquefied Natural Gas as fuel, while the remaining 25 will be equipped with powerful gas filtering systems.
