Iberostar details its roadmap towards the circular economy
27 December, 2023Iberostar Group has unveiled its new roadmap to achieve a circular tourism model in the framework of the XXVIII edition of the United Nations Conference (COP28). The action plan was presented at the event organised by the World Tourism Organization (WTO): ‘Tourism United for Climate Action – Delivering on the Commitments of the Glasgow Declaration’.
This roadmap is a declaration of intent by the Mallorcan hotel group, which assumes the commitment to generate value in all the destinations in which it operates. It also highlights Iberostar’s progress in terms of decarbonisation, waste management and the reduction of single-use plastics, including the lessons learned to date.
Through this action plan, the company emphasises the crucial role of innovation and collaboration as fundamental pillars in shaping the value chain. In particular, although the hotel company has implemented effective mechanisms to manage its waste, a quarter of the waste that Iberostar plans to send to landfill requires innovative solutions.
