The 5 Prettiest Spanish Villages in 2024
3 January, 2024The Association The Prettiest Villages of Spain has announced the incorporation of five new towns into its network in 2024, which from 1 January will have 116 Spanish villages in total. The new municipalities that have joined the list have had to pass a demanding audit of over 40 points.
The requirements include care for heritage, town planning, the harmony of the municipality, cleanliness, programmed cultural activity and the conservation of façades and green spaces. Currently, only 20% of the applicants for the network pass. The 19 municipalities that have submitted their candidacy through their town councils were audited in 2023.
After the association has visited them and held meetings with their representatives throughout the year, only five towns were lucky enough to obtain this quality seal and for which it usually means an great boost for tourism: Ampudia (Palencia), Comillas (Cantabria), Parauta (Málaga), Trevejo and Trujillo (Cáceres).
