Spanish airlines want to produce SAF asap
3 January, 2024The Asociación de Líneas Aéreas (ALA), the Spanish airline employers’ association, has called on the government to promote incentives to develop the production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) as soon as possible, encouraging their implementation in order to reduce the price gap with conventional fossil fuels.
The other objective is to ensure the necessary supply to meet the mandatory use quotas established by the European Union. This was stated by the president of ALA, Javier Gándara, during his speech at the 3rd Climate Summit, organised by this employers’ association, the COIAE College and the Higher Technical School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering (ETSIAE).
The different organisations, with the airlines, are collaboratively carrying out different actions as part of their respective sustainability strategies, such as restructuring airspace to achieve more direct and efficient air routes, which contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions, and designing more efficient climb and descent flight manoeuvres.
