The surprising Spanish destination the Brits want to discover
17 January, 2024The association of British travel agencies ABTA has presented its annual destinations report, which in its 2024 edition includes a list with a total of 10 places around the world that will be a trend for UK citizens throughout this year, and which includes a Spanish destination that may cause surprise at first, as it is not one of the usual ones and which is to be expected: Extremadura.
The employers’ association has released this list to coincide with the so-called ‘Sunshine Saturday’ in January, which is traditionally one of the busiest days of the year for holiday bookings, and which on this occasion has been Saturday 6. And, according to the data compiled by the employers’ association, the volume of people wanting to travel to a new place is increasing.
ABTA’s research into the UK outbound tourism market also found that 64% of people plan to travel abroad this year and, in contrast, 58% will choose to take a holiday in the UK, which the industry body said “reflects the continued importance of holidays to the public”, it said in a statement.
