La Alhambra beats its record in 2023 with 2.6 million visitors

31 January, 2024

The Alhambra and the Generalife in Granada reached a new visitor record in 2023. The monumental complex exceeded 2.6 million visitors last year, which is 9% more tickets sold than in the previous year, when the effects of Covid-19 were still being felt, and which is proof of the return to normality of the city’s main tourist attraction.

The figures show a “very positive” end to the year, which has been crowned by the celebration of the European Summit last October, which has spread the image of the Alhambra around the world and is already having a direct impact on ticket sales for 2024, when, if the current trend continues, the monument could reach full capacity.

The head of Public Visits and Marketing of the monument, Gonzalo Mochón, has recognised that 2023 has been a “very positive year in terms of annual occupancy with 94.50%”, also taking into account that the public visit was closed for three days to adapt to the celebration of the visit and subsequent gala dinner of the European Summit.
