Spain records a 15% increase in tourist arrivals

Around 4.8 million international tourists visited Spain in January, 15.3% more than in the same month of 2023. The UK was the leading issuing market, followed by France and Germany. By destinations, the Canaries, Catalonia and Andalusia received the most travellers, according to surveys published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

Of the 4,768,171 foreign travellers who visited the country in January, 833,416 came from the UK, the leading issuing market that month, with an increase of 12.3%; followed by France, with 571,774, up 18%, and Germany, with 551,305, up 14.9%. Catalonia increased by 20.3%, Andalusia by 17.4% and the Canaries by 9.2%.With 1,321,100 travellers, this autonomous community welcomed the most travellers.

The length of stay was mostly between four and seven nights, with almost 2.1 million and an annual increase of 18.2%. And, according to the INE, almost 3.8 million tourists travelled without a tourist package, up by 15.3%. There were a million in package tours, up by 15.4%.
