3 Spanish rural hotels share the 2024 sustainability award
13 March, 2024The Rusticae Awards 2023, which recognise the most outstanding rural accommodation in Spain, have a specific category for the Sustainable Project, which in the 2024 edition is shared by three establishments in Palencia: Sanmartina Hotel, the full rental rural house Finca El Cercado and Eco Hotel Doña Mayor, for their joint initiative “Discover Palencia”.
This project aims to promote quality and sustainable tourism in the province of Palencia. To this end, it offers local, authentic and environmentally friendly experiences, as well as nature activities, astrotourism, cycling, falconry, beekeeping, mycology and wine tasting, while supporting local businesses and small producers.
In addition, in the Best Initiative category, the winner was Somnifabrik Hotel, for its impeccable work in the recovery of Aragon’s industrial heritage. What is today a fantastic 14-room hotel, in 1790 was a paper factory and, later, a textile sash factory. In the refurbishment, they took great care to maintain its original essence and, above all, with sustainability as their banner.
