20 March, 2024

The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will open eight routes from Tenerife South Airport next summer, where two new aircraft will be based, bringing the total number of routes to four. It will be linked to the airports of Cardiff (UK), Düsseldorf-Weeze and Memmingen (Germany), Marrakesh (Morocco), Budapest, Knock (Ireland), Pisa (Italy) and Toulouse (France). During the past year, Tenerife has maintained air connections with 29 markets and 151 airports.

For the current winter season, the number of flights arriving to the island is 4,623,881, 12.1 % more than in the same period of the previous year, and for next summer there will be 22 new connections from Tenerife as compared to summer 2023.

The vice-president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Lope Afonso, stressed that it is essential for Tenerife to improve connectivity, which is why the airline’s announcement is relevant, and he predicted that 2024 will also be a great year for tourism.
