The largest coral reef outside the ocean opens in the Canary Islands
10 April, 2024Coral Kingdom opened in March in Tenerife. It is the largest reef outside the ocean in existence and is conceived as a sensory immersion on the seabed. Loro Parque opens the doors to this new area where virtual reality and nature come together.
Its almost 40-metre-long window is made of continuous glass of perfect transparency, with a meandering pattern that helps to create a sensation of movement and fluidity for viewers. This reef is also an opportunity to collaborate in the preservation of corals.
The launch of Coral Kingdom is the culmination of the Animal Embassy's commitment to the conservation of corals, one of the most threatened ecosystems on the planet. It is estimated that 90% of corals could disappear by 2050, with devastating consequences for marine ecosystems.
