Hotel Arts Barcelona to undergo a €60m renovation
8 May, 2024The Hotel Arts Barcelona, located in the city’s Olympic Port, will undergo a 17-month refurbishment involving an investment of almost €60 million. This 5-star hotel, which forms part of the Barcelona skyline, will maintain its activity throughout the process without altering the façade, by installing 100 metres of metal scaffolding.
A total of 432 rooms and corridors will be adapted, between floors 3 and 33 and the meeting and conference rooms on floor -1 will also be refurbished. The work will be carried out with a “careful selection of materials, furniture and equipment”, says the company that has taken on the project, Grupo Sorigué.
The building was designed by the architect Bruce Graham and was built between 1991 and 1992, on the occasion of the Olympic Games, although it did not open its doors until 1994. In 2006, the Dutch pension fund Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP and a subsidiary of GIC Real Estate Pte Ltd., a property investment company owned by the Singapore government, paid €417 million for the hotel.
