Madrid, in the Top 10 most accessible European cities for tourism
15 May, 2024Madrid ranks ninth on the list of the 10 most accessible European capitals for travellers with some kind of physical disability, according to a report by the travel agency Iglu Cruise. According to the information compiled by this British company, 25% of disabled travellers regularly encounter difficulties when they go on holiday and look for hotels, restaurants or activities.
In contrast, among non-disabled people, only 10% experience some kind of difficulties that complicate their travel planning and experience. With this data in mind, Iglu Cruise has analysed data from Tripadvisor and Yelp regarding the most accessible tourist destinations for people with disabilities in Europe to travel to in 2024.
In this way, the percentage of accessible restaurants, hotels and activities in each European capital was calculated. According to Dave Mills, commercial director of Iglu Cruise, “we can see that while many cities in Europe are disability friendly, there is still a lot of work to be done across the continent to make accessible travel more widely available”.
