Barcelona invests in 48 projects to improve tourism management

22 May, 2024

A total of 48 projects, worth 11.1 million euros, will be financed with the Tax on Stays in Tourist Establishments (IEET), as approved by Barcelona City Council’s Governing Committee. These actions “will make it possible to enhance the policies implemented to improve tourism management and increase the social return to citizens,” they say.

Of the projects approved, 29 were requested directly by the city’s districts, while culture will unite a further 8 projects. Tourism management is once again one of the council’s priorities in the allocation of these funds, on this occasion with five specific projects in iconic areas.

Specifically, these projects are the consolidation of the 2024 “Plazas plan” for the Gràcia district, the development of an action plan for the Sagrada Familia and its surroundings, the management and improvement of the Turó de la Rovira anti-aircraft batteries and the completion of the management plan for Highly Crowded Areas (EGA).
