Uber starts selling train tickets in Spain

22 May, 2024

The transport company Uber has just announced that it is going to launch in Spain, with no definite date “although by June at the latest”, a service that it already offers in other markets such as the UK: the possibility of buying train tickets through its platform. From now on, it will also be possible to share journeys with other users, although for the moment it is only available in Madrid due to the legal restrictions imposed by other autonomous communities.

In a further step towards intermodality, Uber will soon launch a new service through its app through which train tickets can be purchased from the three Spanish train operators (Renfe, Iryo and Ouigo) thanks to an agreement with Omio, which will allow medium and long-distance and high-speed tickets to be purchased.

This new service, Trenes, will soon be available throughout Spain and although there is no specific date for the official launch, Uber at least has announced that it will be available in June.
