Catalonia’s tourist offices assist 2.2 million travellers
29 May, 2024Catalonia's Tourist Office Network, currently made up of 198 offices with 600 staff, has celebrated its 30th anniversary. Last year alone, this network of offices assisted 2.2 million tourists. 2.2 million tourists benefited in 2023. A historic record for the Tourist Office Network.
As explained by the Director General of Tourism, Marta Domènech, “our information staff are in direct contact with tourists at all times: inspiring potential visitors; helping them to prepare their trip, welcoming them and ‘making them fall in love’ when they are in our destination and, once they leave, working to build their loyalty”, she explained.
In any case, as well as their work with the public, the tourist offices carry out other tasks, “as they are also agents for boosting the economic activity of the local business fabric”, explains the Catalan Government. So the professionals working in these offices also organise and disseminate all kinds of promotional activities such as fairs, markets, gastronomic days, festivals and summer programmes.
