Madrid’s iconic Hotel Mayorazgo integrates into Grupotel
29 May, 2024Grupotel Hotels & Resorts has acquired Hotel Mayorazgo, located on Madrid's Gran Vía and previously owned by the Salazar Gordon family. Although the amount of the transaction has not been disclosed, the establishment was put on the market last year for 60 million euros, some 300,000 euros per room.
The Hotel Mayorazgo, whose façade shows a Manila shawl, is an eight-storey 4-star hotel with 200 themed rooms, the GastroVia 61 restaurant, the Retiro Bar and rooms with a capacity of between 10 and 150 people. During the pandemic, the establishment underwent a complete refurbishment costing more than one million euros.
The Salazar Gordon family, who have run the hotel for 65 years, had commissioned the sale to Bankinter Investment and the British firm Maya Capital was one of those interested in taking over the asset to make its debut in Spain.
