Renfe opens a new high-speed connection between Malaga and Alicante

29 May, 2024

From June, Malaga and Murcia will have a new direct AVE (high-speed) connection between the two cities, with two Renfe trains per day. The operator continues to expand its high-speed services in order to avoid being overtaken by Ouigo and Iryo, which are trying to get a larger slice of the cake.

Renfe will put two AVE trains into service, one in each direction, direct and daily, to travel between Málaga, Alicante and Murcia from 1 June. The company’s high-speed train, with a stop at Atocha-Almudena Grandes, will leave Malaga at 8:05am, will stop in Alicante at 1:39pm and will arrive in Murcia at 2:37pm. In the opposite direction, it will depart from Murcia at 3:32pm and from Alicante at 4:35pm, arriving in Malaga at 10:36pm.

With these new AVE services, Renfe will also create direct connections between Malaga and the cities of Cuenca, Albacete, Elche and Orihuela, among others, from 1 June.
