AENA earmarks €160 M for the modernisation of Palma Airport

5 June, 2024

Palma de Mallorca’s airport renovation project includes modernising the passenger terminal building, optimising the commercial and passenger handling areas and improving terminal services such as electricity, air conditioning and IT systems.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and AENA have signed a €160 million loan to finance the renovation of Palma airport’s passenger terminal as part of a project considered strategic for the Airport Regulation Document 2022-2026 (DORA II).

Investments are also considered in security, an improvement in the baggage handling system and an adaptation of the detection and response systems and equipment for rescue and fire extinguishing. This operation is also notable for its contribution to cohesion in the European Union, as 100 % of the investment will take place in the Balearic Islands.
