2 Spanish airlines among the 25 best 'low cost' airlines in the world
19 June, 2024AirlineRatings, the global airline product and safety rating website, has announced the 25 best low-cost airlines for 2024, from over 360 operators which monitor it, including two Spanish airlines. In addition, the platform’s evaluation team has identified the leading operator in this segment by region.
AirlineRatings.com editors use 12 criteria including passenger reviews from various sources, fleet age, product offering, and safety and incident ratings to arrive at their top 25 low-cost airlines. In the case of this segment, the award-winning Spanish airlines are Volotea and Vueling.
Volotea, founded in 2011, is an independent airline that has experienced rapid growth in Europe. With a fleet of 44 Airbus aircraft, it operates up to 450 routes, connecting more than 110 cities in 18 countries. Vueling in turn is part of the IAG group. Starting operations in 2004, it stands apart by flying to major airports and the only low-cost carrier operating out of London Heathrow.
