Will Spain soon have a hydrogen airport hub?
24 July, 2024Airbus, Aena, Air Nostrum, Iberia, Exolum and Repsol have signed a Collaboration Agreement to study the creation of the first hydrogen airport hub in Spain. The six companies have come together to address the main challenges of deploying hydrogen-powered aviation in the country.
This collaboration will provide the partners with a holistic view of the hydrogen-powered aircraft and how to build it into the airport ecosystem. Not only will it focus on hydrogen supply and infrastructure, but also on the specific requirements of airport ground operations. The ultimate goal is to encourage and support the growth of the hydrogen aviation ecosystem in Spain.
The six companies that have joined the project represent each link in the value chain: Airbus, aircraft manufacturer. Iberia and Air Nostrum, global and regional operating airlines, respectively. Aena, airport operator. Repsol, energy fuel manufacturer. Exolum, transport and storage of fuel.
