Major investment by Paradores to upgrade and refurbish its hotels
7 August, 2024The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, has announced that the Spanish public hotel chain Paradores will invest €190 million to improve, recover and restore establishments declared to be of Cultural Interest. The actions aim to increase the comfort of the buildings and make them more sustainable and energy efficient.
Specifically, Turespaña is carrying out work in 39 paradors, with an investment of €89 million with European funds. These are works of varying duration and complexity, which are in the process of being put out to tender and will be implemented as of 2024. All must be completed by the summer of 2026.
Another €11 million must be added to this for the drafting of the Master Plans for the 53 historic buildings in the network, which will allow better planning and management of the conservation of these buildings of the country’s historic-artistic heritage. Finally, Paradores will invest a further €90 million in improvement and renovation works with its own funds.
