Renfe successfully launches new Avlo trains in Galicia

7 August, 2024

The railway company Renfe launched Avlo trains, its 'low cost' brand, in Galicia at the end of July. After the arrival of the Avril last May, which allowed the AVE to run in the region, now Renfe has started to run Avlo trains on Galician tracks, which reduces the price of the high-speed train.

These services will be provided with Renfe’s new S106 trains with movable tracks (it adapts to the different tracks and can run on them at 300 kilometres per hour) and with 581 seats, divided into 12 cars in rows of 3+2, according to the company. This will mean an increase of over 8,000 weekly seats on the Galicia-Madrid corridor.

Thus, the current commercial offer between Galicia and Madrid will now be joined by two daily Avlo services, one in each direction, which will alternate their origins/destinations between Vigo-Madrid and A Coruña-Madrid, passing through Santiago de Compostela. These trains will stop at all stations on the line: Segovia, Medina del Campo, Zamora, Sanabria AV, A Gudiña, Ourense, Vilagarcía de Arousa and Pontevedra.
