Spanish campsites report a record summer

28 August, 2024

In Spain, the camping sector exceeds its best results year after year, and this summer is expected to surpass the figures from a record 2023, which ended with 6.3 million travellers and almost 30 million overnight stays. International tourists are once again putting their trust in campsites.

July has been a very good month, according to the Spanish Federation of Campsites (FEEC), especially the second fortnight, with hundreds of establishments full. And for the month of August there are hardly any places left until Sunday 25th. The organisation reaffirms its initial forecasts, in which it anticipated a "record summer" with 90% occupancy.

Forecasts for August by geographical area

  • Coastal campsites: both in the Mediterranean - establishments in the Valencian Community, Andalusia, Murcia and Barcelona - and in the north - Galicia, Cantabria, Asturias and the Basque Country - will reach an average occupancy rate of 90%.

  • Inland campsites: 90% also reached in Navarra, La Rioja, Aragón, Comunidad de Madrid, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura.
