50% of British visitors to the Canary Islands are repeat visitors
4 September, 2024The Canary Islands are a destination with a very loyal "audience", as confirmed by the latest data shared by the Tourist Expenditure Survey of the Canary Islands Statistics Institute (Istac). It showed that 40.3% of the international visitors who came to the archipelago in the first quarter of 2024 had already been to one of the islands on at least five occasions.
This means that only 24.4% of visitors were new to the destination. For the island of Lanzarote, the number of repeat visitors is even higher, accounting for 44.2% of the total of 735,000 tourists who come to this Canary Island tourist destination each year.
The most loyal international tourists are from the Nordic countries, with up to 52.9% being repeat visitors. These are followed by British (50.7%), Irish (45.4%), German (38%), domestic tourism(37%), Belgian (33.8%), Swiss (31%), Italian (28%) and Dutch (25.7%) visitors.
