Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has had the best tourist July in 15 years
11 September, 2024Las Palmas de Gran Canaria recorded last July an occupancy rate of 70.58% in its accommodation establishments, hotels and apartments and 136,125 overnight stays, the highest figures for this month of the year since 2009, according to data published by the ISTAC. The Canary Islands capital received 36,586 tourists, 46.3% of them international and had a total income in the accommodation sector of almost 6.5 million euros (6,413,847).
Occupancy above 70% in July has only been exceeded once since 2009. It reached 74% in 2019 but then the number of accommodation places was 6,688 compared to the current 7,943.
The British were the foreign tourists who spent the most overnight stays in July, a total of 7,025 hotel nights with an average stay of almost 6 days in the city, compared to the average of international travellers, which was 4 days. The British are followed by the Germans, with 6,458 overnight stays and an average stay of 5 days.
