Hotel bookings aim for a new record in autumn
11 September, 2024The hotel bookings accumulated week after week over the last few months confirm that many destinations in Spain will achieve record figures in the autumn. In fact, September’s results are expected to exceed even those of June. In other words, deseasonalisation is being consolidated in the tourism sector.
According to data from brokered hotel bookings made on the b2b platform TravelgateX during the week of 19-25 August, demand grew by 9%. On these dates, the Spanish destinations with the highest number of hotel bookings were Catalonia (20% share), Andalusia (18%), the Canaries (14%) and the Balearic Islands (13%). The highest growth in hotel bookings compared to last year was recorded in the Region of Madrid (+56%) and the Basque Country (+94%).
In terms of markets of origin, the United Kingdom stands out in first place, with 20% of total hotel bookings, followed by Germany with 4%. Clearly, domestic demand accounts for the largest share (50%).
