16 October, 2024The Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez, has highlighted the fundamental role of tourism as a factor that contributes to people’s wellbeing, both for tourists and for workers in the sector and residents. This is what he said during his speech at the round table ‘The strategic transformation of the Spanish tourism model’ at the IV Turespaña Convention.
“The Spanish government is working to ensure that tourism maximises the well-being of residents, because it is an activity that contributes to peace and to people’s mental health,” he underlined. The president of Turespaña also pointed out that “we are at a time when we have to take advantage of the strength of the citizens and of the city as a transforming element that unites wills”.
Sánchez also insisted that “tourism is a generous sector, which drives the Spanish economy, generates opportunities and inspires people to fulfil their dreams”. During the three days of the Convention, the present and future of tourism in Spain was debated in Tenerife, with a special focus on the role of technology and the digitalisation of the industry.
