Spending by international tourists in Spain soars by 17.55%

16 October, 2024

Spending by international tourists in Spain rose to 86.4 billion euros in the first eight months of 2024, an increase of 17.55% compared to the same period last year, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, announced these figures during the opening of the IV Turespaña Convention, held in Tenerife, where he stated that “these magnificent figures underpin the tourism model we are building, that of triple sustainability: economic, social and environmental”.

“We must continue to focus on diversification, deconcentration of the tourist offer, deseasonalisation and digitalisation of the sector so that the injection of prosperity that tourism brings reaches every corner of our country”, said the minister, who in this sense recalled the good period that tourism employment is going through.
