Food and wine tourism is already a reason to travel to Spain

30 October, 2024

Enogastronomy allows visitors to Spain to discover and learn first-hand about the products of each wine-growing region, while at the same time offering them added value. In addition, one of the keys is that destinations are trying to boost the quality of the hospitality industry.

According to Turespaña, gastronomic tourism is already “one of the main possible reasons for travel”, being “a complementary attraction to other travel motivations”. In addition, there are “activities related” to this format, such as visits to wineries and vineyards, among others. “Gastronomy and oenology are a fundamental pillar of the Spain brand,” the organisation said.

According to the tourism institute, “up to 10.6 million international tourists” who visited Spain in the first half of 2024 have carried out gastronomic or wine-related activities, that is, one out of every four travellers who came to the country, spending 15,157 million euros on them and representing 27.27% of the total expenditure.
