Spain, a safe haven destination in a fragile geopolitical environment
6 November, 2024For over a month now, hotel bookings for accommodation in various destinations in Spain have been registering double-digit growth compared to the same time last year. This increase in demand coincides with the start of the escalation of war in the Middle East
According to data from brokered hotel bookings made on the b2b platform TravelgateX, demand for Spain has remained very strong since the last week in September. A large part of this demand (approximately 20%) has been concentrated in early bookings. The sharp increase in hotel bookings which Spain is enjoying coincides with the escalation of war in the Israel-Lebanon area.
So during the week of 14 to 20 October, several Spanish destinations (Catalonia, Andalusia, Region of Madrid, Region of Valencia and the Balearic Islands) once again recorded double-digit annual growth. Such increases have been repeated week after week since the end of September.
