A Spanish hotel among the 16 most beautiful worldwide says UNESCO
20 November, 2024The Prix Versailles was created by UNESCO in 2015 and is the total recognition of aesthetic excellence, the most beautiful places designed each year. “Through their architecture and design, the world’s most beautiful hotels elevate the links between culture and tourism,” said Jérôme Gouadain, secretary general of the Prix Versailles.
And among them is a Spanish establishment, Nobis Hotel Palma, with 37 rooms and suites located inside a 12th century medieval jewel in the Balearic capital. It has two interior courtyards that remind us that the building served as a palace during the period of Muslim rule.
In the most recent of these, architects Jordi Herrero and Eduardo García Acuña, alongside Gert Wingårdh and Helena Toresson of the Swedish architectural firm Wingårdhs, delicately added a contemporary layer to its walls, so vibrant with history, thus revitalising the building in a new incarnation of Palma’s timeless charm.
