Ouigo’s high-speed trains already link Madrid and Seville
15 January, 2025On 16 January, the Andalusian corridor of the high-speed rail operator Ouigo opened, connecting Madrid, Seville, Cordoba and Malaga. This was the company’s great stakes for 2024 which, although with a slight delay, has just started operating. The first high-speed trains actually began operating in Spain on this corridor in 1992.
With its entry into the Andalusian corridor, Ouigo completes the framework agreement signed with Adif (Renfe), although reaching this latest milestone has meant that it has had to rebuild other lines for the training of train drivers and has also invested €40 million to adapt the trains to the line’s LZB system.
From now on, the operator will offer 35,000 seats for this new connection from Madrid. A company statement says there will be 6 trains a day between Madrid and Seville (3 outward and 3 return journeys) with a stop in Cordoba and 4 frequencies to Malaga, 2 outward and 2 return journeys and a stop in Cordoba.
