29 January, 2025

The city of Alicante (Region of Valencia) has presented its programme of activities organised to mark its selection as Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2025. In addition, during the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), the Tourist Board has made an important promotion of an appointment that “recognises the excellence of the culinary offer, the hospitality, the product and the markets of the city”.

In this line, the mayor, Luis Barcala, highlighted “the richness of Alicante’s gastronomy” with special emphasis on “our unique rice dishes, of which we have over 300 varieties”. He also invited people to travel to Alicante to “get to know our culinary culture, which goes hand in hand with our way of life and enjoyment, and where we will welcome you with open arms”.

He also thanked the hotel and catering sector for their “involvement in making the gastronomic capital year a memorable one for Alicante”. “The search for excellence in Alicante’s hospitality industry, combined with a quality product, means that our city is among the best in Spain when it comes to eating well, and that’s saying a lot,” he added.
